Introduction to my new blog

Welcome to Canine Understatement! A dog, his family and the small (understatement) troubles they encounter!

"An understatement deliberately expresses an idea as less important than it actually is, either for ironic emphasis or for politeness and tact. When the writer's audience can be expected to know the true nature of a fact which might be rather difficult to describe adequately in a brief space, the writer may choose to understate the fact as a means of employing the reader's own powers of description. "

In keeping with my brother's Dramatic Irony in Agility blog theme, I think that is a great way to start off the blog of my and my canine family's exploits! Here you will find stories of agility, hiking and general goofiness that a dog that is like me can get into...and his excellent partners in crime: Hasten, Barclay and Fiona.

Now, a little bit about me:
If you haven't met me, my name is Ciaran Sinclair. I am named Ciaran --because is means "little dark one" in Gaelic and Sinclair in honor of my former Scottie brother. When my parents first met me they thought I reminded them of him. I am of excellent lineage...however there is one small problem...I am...yes, I must admit it, a mixed breed. My mother is a champion Sealyham Terrier...

and my dad is a Champion Wire haired Miniature Daschund.

Here's my whole family of siblings and myself!

I am what some call a Doxieham or a Sealyhund but I do look more like my Dad. I am very polite (unless there is food around) and I like everyone. I have started doing agility and have earned my first titles-- Novice Jumpers and Novice Standard. I would have more legs in Open but I have a small problem visiting or at least wanting to visit ring crew so I lose time and don't qualify. I will get it. I LOVE agility!!! I have a fan club of people who always want to know what I am and if there are more of me. I am a good guy--but sometimes I and my new family (2 sisters and 1 brother) can get into some interesting (understatement) situations.
My family is made up of my brother Barclay, who sometimes likes me--sometimes does NOT!

and my sisters Hasten and Fiona. They both LOVE me!!!

My Novice Standard title ribbon! and my mom.

My most favorite part of agility (besides the treats) is the tall stuff! I love the dogwalk and the aframe. In my free time I spend lots of time on these pieces of equipment so that I can see across into other people's yards.

I plan to spend some time talking about the exciting times we have--on trails, in agility and in our lives in general. We get into a lot of trouble (at least that is what my mom says, but I will share these exciting adventures. Humans feel free to read along--but I am writing to the public of my dog posse!

Next blog topic: The incident with the goat.

 Peace out!
Ciaran--living on the edge!
